On June 8th, Kerenski degraded General Gurko from his position as Commander-in-Chief of the Western Front, and appointed him to command a division in the Kazan Military District. The General had resigned on May 28th, refusing to be responsible for his command after the publication of Kerenski’s “ Declaration of the Rights of Soldiers.
About the time of my morning walk, the new commander-inchief of the Petrograd Military District — General Polovtsev — detained Alexis and me from our walk in the garden for 20 minutes. The weather was fine. At 3:15 everyone went for a walk; we chopped down another two trees.
Kharkov, Russia. "Lynch law" has been invoked by the peasants with good effect for the suppression of thievery in the towns and villages in the vicinity of Kharkov, according to advices from that city. The peasants, indignant at the release of offenders by the local militia, have taken the law into their own hands,and in several instances thieves have been beaten to death. See more
Is there a Way to a Just Peace? Is there a way to peace without an exchange of annexations, without the division of spoils among the capitalist robbers?
