The offensive was postponed to allow of the arrival of Kerenski with a joint proclamation of the Conference of the Sovyets of Working-Men and Soldier Deputies and the Executive Committee of the Alliance of Peasant Deputies. On the face of it, the document he brought with him was scarcely worth waiting for. It is true it called on the men to attack, but to attack in order by " proving their organisation and strength to add weight to the voice of revolutionary Russia in its appeal to enemy, neutral and allied countries, and so to hasten the end of the war.” This was not very enthusing. Kerenski’s Order of June 29th was better, but the phrase, “ I call on the army, fortified by the strength and spirit of the Revolution, to take the offensive ” must have seemed a hollow mockery to officers at the front. March ahead, to fight for freedom! I call you not to feast, but to die!

Having walked long hallways, past guards with guns, I entered into a huge hall with two tiers of windows. I took a seat right near the stage. In the beginning the ambassador of the American Confederation of Labor held a long speech. See more
The Ukrainian movement is becoming something that promises great tribulations to the Russian state. Needless to say, it is deeply tragic. Every print outlet in our country is blunt about it, regardless of its affiliation. But one needs to be fair. Not only the Central Rada is responsible for what is happening right now in Little Russia. See more
