Confidential intelligence received today in Washington through a diplomatic channel discloses, according to the Foreign Affairs News Service, that the Russian Provisional Government's plan for the deportation of the dethroned Czar and Czarina has been defeated, at least, temporarily, by the Council of Workmen’s and Soldiers’ Deputies. The Government had decided to banish the former ruler and his consort, together with their son, to land, which country had volunteered an asylum for them. The reason for the council’s opposition to the banishment of the Czar and Czarina has been attributed to its desire to deprive them, together with the Czarevitch that was, of a portion of their immense fortunes, a Commissioner having already been appointed to take over their domains. Their combined wealth is estimated to total $9,000,000,000, which formerly yielded the a prodigious income, which members of the council have declared was scandalously squandered.
