Sleepy Hollow Country Club Sees Performance of Russian Ballet

With the air perfumed with lilacs and apple blossoms and under a starry sky, the outdoor theatre of the Sleepy Hollow Country Club was opened tonight before a brilliant audience, which was seated on the rows of terraces in front of the stage. Nature left little for the architect to do. The setting was ideal. The slope of the land provides for excellent shrubbery and cedar trees hide the exits. Huge Japanese lanterns added to the beauty of the scene and a pretty conception was the row of colored lights along with pathways to the theatre.

The Pavley-Oukrainsky Russian ballet provided a delightful program and the dances were interspersed by numbers of the Little Symphony under the direction of George Barrere.

More than 700 members and friends were at the club tonight for dinner, including Mr. and Mrs. Rockefeller.

The club was crowded all day and there were special attractions in tennis and golf. Another feature was the raising of funds to equip American ambulances in France. The cost of a single equipment is $1,600, and more than $5,000 was subscribed. Three of the members subscribed $1,600 each. The cars will be known as the Sleepy Hollow Country Club Ambulances.
